About me

I’m glad you’re here.
A little bit about me:
I am a recently retired contractor. For the last 20 years I have been helping customers with their home improvements. Kitchens, baths, repairs, framing, roofing, siding, windows…there wasn’t much I couldn’t improve for someone.
I grew up learning all things construction through my father and grandfather, so I have been around construction my whole life. I have a passion for restoring older buildings, or properties in disrepair. After 20 years working for other people, I decided to take my skill set in a different direction. Currently, I buy turn of the century dilapidated homes and restore them to rent. For me there’s nothing more satisfying than restoring something ugly, obsolete, or even unlivable back to its former beauty or better.
Over the years, I have noticed that the trades are losing skilled professionals. The tradesman who takes pride in his work seems to be a dying breed, leaving you with fewer choices to hire a qualified pro when the need arises. Many contractors can’t be bothered with “small” repair jobs. But did you know that there are many things that a homeowner can learn to save his or herself some hard earned money? I’m here to share my knowledge with you, and tell you that with a little bit of effort you too can learn some helpful skills for home repair.
Bookmark this page and stop back often. I have plans to keep sharing what I have learned over the last several decades so you too can realize the satisfaction of repairing or improving your biggest, most important investment.

DIY Miter Saw Table VS Dewalt Chop Saw Stand

In the world of home improvement, there is usually more than one way to get the job done. Sometimes when you're up against a tight budget or a short deadline, you need to be creative. If you don't have the exact tool for the project, you can often make do with a bit of ingenuity and a few items that you may already have on hand. In this blog, I'm making a side by side comparison of my home-made miter saw table and a Dewalt miter saw stand. DIY Miter Saw Table Enter your email below to Request the assembly plans for this table! How I put together my miter saw table. (CLICK) The material list for the homemade chop saw table is very short! Two 2X4's and one 2X6, some 2" and 3" screws (drywall screws are perfectly fine). If you don't have a workbench to put this table, you can use two sawhorses, or even just use it on the floor. Of course it's much easier to have it at waist height, especially if you have a lot of cuts...
